Rep. Jonathan L. Jackson's Statement on Passing of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein

September 29, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Jonathan L. Jackson (D-IL-01) released the following statement on the passing of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA):

"U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein was a pioneer. She was the first woman to serve as Mayor of San Francisco and represent California in the U.S. Senate, opening the door for a generation of women to serve their communities in elected office. She was also a legislative powerhouse, advancing women's rights with the passage of the Violence Against Women Act, upholding American civil liberties with her Senate Intelligence Committee Study on the CIA Detention and Interrogation Program, and protecting our families from gun violence by spearheading the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban. Her voice will be sorely missed. I am thinking of and praying for her family today."
