Congressman Jonathan L. Jackson's policy on crime focuses on creating safer communities by addressing root causes and supporting effective law enforcement. 

The First District, covering parts of Chicago and its surrounding areas, continues to grapple with significant crime-related challenges. Gun violence remains a critical concern, taking lives and leaving a lasting impact on families and communities. Property crimes such as theft and burglary disrupt our sense of security, particularly in economically vulnerable neighborhoods. While we've seen some progress thanks to local efforts, it's clear that much work remains to do.

For these reasons, Congressman Jackson cosponsored the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to enhance gun safety and the VICTIM Act to improve crime-solving and victim support. He has also emphasized investments in youth programs, mental health resources, and economic development to prevent crime while advocating for fair and community-focused policing. Congressman Jackson encourages collaboration among local leaders, law enforcement, and residents to build secure neighborhoods where families can thrive.
