Rep. Jonathan L. Jackson Praises African Union's Inclusion As G20 Permanent Member
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Jonathan L. Jackson (D-IL-01), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, praised the G20's decision to include the African Union ("AU") as a permanent member. The G20 represents the world's 20 leading economies, and the move is a recognition of the importance of the 55 African nations that comprise the AU.
"Today is a proud day for Africa and the African Union. The G20's decision is a recognition of what many of us have been saying for a long time: Africa deserves true respect. As a member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, I remain committed to advancing U.S.-African relations."
