WASHINGTON, D.C – Today, Representative Jackson voted to secure $9,125,783 in Community Project Funding that he previously secured for Illinois’s 1st District in the 2024 spending bills. This funding, included in the first of the appropriations government funding packages, responds directly to some of the most pressing needs throughout the First Congressional District.
“I am incredibly pleased to vote for $9,125,783 in Community Project Funding in this bill that I know will have a profound impact on Illinois’s 1st District,” Rep. Jackson said. “These investments grow our economy, making a real difference in the lives of so many in our community. I am proud to have fought for funding that will make our community healthier, safer, and stronger.”
Rep. Jackson championed funding for 12 projects that will directly benefit Illinois’s 1st District residents. These include:
- $1,000,000 for 79th Street and Stony Island Avenue Skyway Flyover Ramp Feasibility Study
- $1,466,279 for Brainerd Senior Apartments - Decarbonization
- $959,752 for City of Chicago for Lead Service Line Replacement
- $959,752 for City of Wilmington for South Water and Sewer Main Extension Project
- $500,000 for CTA Rail Station Customer Assistant Kiosk Security Console Project
- $500,000 for Morgan Street Bridge Replacement, Chicago, IL
- $840,000 for Pace Western Avenue Transit Signal Priority Cook County, Illinois

- $500,000 for Sustainable Updates to CPS Outdoor Spaces
- $500,000 for Unity Parenting and Counseling Inc. Non-Congregate Emergency Shelter Chicago, Illinois
- $850,000 for US Route 6 Corridor Project, Will County, Illinois
- $800,000 for Village of Evergreen Park for Lead Service Line Replacement Project
House Democrats were successful in removing harmful extreme House Republican policies from these bills that attempted to make abortion illegal everywhere, slash efforts to fight climate change, and threaten our national security. Instead, these final bipartisan 2024 funding bills will help keep our communities safe, fight inflation, and boost our economy. Taken together, the funding for Illinois’s 1st District and the funding increases for critical government programs will continue to grow our local economy and support our communities.
This legislation is expected to be signed into law by President Biden later this week. A detailed summary of the bill is available here.
