WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Today, Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced the nomination of Congressman Jonathan Jackson (IL-01) to the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Committee on Agriculture.

Cong. Jackson will serve on the prestigious House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Committee on Agriculture for the 118th Congress.

Upon being nominated, Congressman Jonathan Jackson released the following statement:

“I am honored to serve the 1st Congressional District of Illinois on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the House Committee on Agriculture.

"Throughout my life, I have advocated for social justice causes at home and abroad. My godfather, Martin Luther King, Jr., famously said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Together, these committees will provide the opportunity to work on the issues that impact my district.

"The threats of global conflicts, health crisis, and climate change affect our local communities. I look forward to working with my colleagues to advance policies that strengthen national security, promote global human rights, and combat food insecurity."
