THE CITY OF CHICAGO AWARDED $60 MILLION GRANT TO ADDRESS UNSHELTERED AND RURAL HOMELESSNESS.

CHICAGO, IL (February 3,2023) - Congressman Jonathan L. Jackson (IL-01) announced today that the City of Chicago has been awarded a $60 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Continuums of Care (CoC) program to tackle the growing problem of unsheltered and rural homelessness.

"This grant represents a major step forward in our efforts to address the homelessness crisis in our community," said Congressman Jonathan L. Jackson. "I am committed to finding solutions that will provide a path to stability and security for those who are struggling. This grant will help us provide the support and services that are so desperately needed."

The grant will also help communities develop a coordinated approach to addressing unsheltered and rural homelessness, working in partnership with healthcare providers, other housing authorities, and those with lived experience.

This grant will empower the City of Chicago to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those experiencing homelessness and will bring us one step closer to ending this crisis.
