Art Competition

Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in collaboration with the Congressional Institute. The competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation,.

Congressman Jonathan Jackson welcomes participation by high school students who attend schools or live in Illinois’s First Congressional District. The winning artwork of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, as part of an exhibit with winners from around the country. Additionally, our district's top 10 finalists' artwork will be rotated between the Congressman's District and Washington, D.C. offices.

All entries must meet the following criteria:

•        Be two dimensional

•        Be no larger than 26 inches wide by 26 inches tall by 4 inches thick

•        A framed piece should not weigh more than 15 pounds

•        Be original in concept, design, and execution (may not violate any U.S. copyright laws).

The submission deadline is Friday, April 19, 2024, at 5:00 P.M. CT. Students can submit their artwork physically or electronically. 

Physical Submission: students may drop off their artwork and completed Student Information & Release Form to our Chicago District office.

Electronic Submission: students may electronically submit a photo of their artwork (as a .jpeg file) and completed Student Information & Release Form by emailing Shonna.Jackson2@mail.house.gov or Jacie.Wolf@mail.house.gov


At most, two pieces of two-dimensional artwork may be entered per student.

The Student Release Form and necessary information on MUST be completed by each student and sent along with the artwork.
